Qualifications:
- 5 year minimum experience in manual machining and milling machines including use of lathes, grinders and drill presses, etc.
- Welding: 3 years (Required)
- Forklift Operation: 2 years (Required)
- Manual Lathe Machining: 5 years (Required)
- Overhead crane operation: 2 years (Required)
- Experience within the electro mechanical industry a must
- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously with shifting priorities and tight deadlines
- On site work required, G class licence preferred
- Ability to independently problem solve
- Fluent in English
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to adapt to overtime needs based on job requirements
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and their applications.
- High school diploma or equivalent technical training.
- At least 3-5 years’ experience interpreting basic mechanical drawings.
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Able to follow/ adhere to health and safety procedures and protocols
- Computer literate
Role responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Calculating dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and calipers.
- Perform machining of regular size parts and large diameter parts to standard specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, boring, and grinders.
- perform balance of machinery
- Measuring, examining and testing of completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications using instruments such as micrometers.
- Perform set up, adjustment and operation all of the basic machine tools to perform machining operations.
- Aligning large parts and secure onto holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines.
- Attentive monitoring the feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
- Reviewing sample parts, blueprints, drawings, and engineering information in order to determine methods and sequences of operations needed to fabricate products, and determine product dimensions and tolerances.
- Selecting the appropriate tools, machines, and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
- Layout, measuring and marking metal stock in order to display placement of cuts
- Ensure all work performed adheres to all relevant organizational, provincial and federal safety regulations, codes and specifications – knowledge of safe operating procedures.
